I just returned from a few days away from home, where I decided to fully charge the unit beforehand and leave the car adapter behind. I'm pleased to say that this worked on this trip -- I had plenty of battery life left after 4 days of modest use (one or two 20 minute drives per day). Of course, I didn't have traffic information this way -- but I also have learned a lot about the benefits and limitations of traffic data from our 770 -- I plan to only use this feature very selectively, which also means I won't be bothered by the ads.

     The hotfix capability is great -- very fast satellite fixes when it already knows where you are. Routing, re-routing speed, lane information, and some flexibility on the display are all improvements over my older units that show that Garmin is continuing to make solid improvements in the technology and design. The one personal preference I didn't get with this model is the ability to use the Australian accented voice, which I just find more soothing than the American.... but I think I'll get over this... bottom line, I'm an experienced GPS user and I'm very happy with this purchase.

      This gps unit has all the features you need in a basic gps. A gps is suppose to get you places, this one dose that well and gives you the speed limit, has bike mode. All the things a gps is suppose to do. Also has a memory card slot so you can always update the maps when necessary

     Despite this unit being solid I did send it back and order the exact same one only with lifetime map updates for $25.66 more. The way I see it there is no point in having a gps if you don't keep up to date maps and buying map updates not bundled with the units themselves is ridiculously expensive.

     I would say lifetime map updates is a must for any gps and you should shop for one with this.

     Also I would stick with the Garmins. Ihe mid range tomtoms barely have enough space to fit there current maps and when there maps grow beyond the point where they can fit there is no way to expand there memory making map updates impossible. The lower range tomtom's in the same range as this garmin cannot even fit there own current map update so you have no choice but to use whatever out of date map come preloaded. Also they have a 
tendency to break when you try to update them or just stop working for no reason at all.

     I was skeptical at first about the new series until I read what Garmin accomplished here and other comments from reviewers: fast chip, storage for 1000 favorites, trip minder, clear directions and markings with distances given, road mph and your current mph (on screen) and time arrival at the objective (waypoint to go to), beautiful wide screen, easy mount dismount, etc. I could go on and on but ... if it is toys you want (mp3, bluetooth telephone, fm, etc.), don't buy this one. BUT if you want the absolute BEST for the BUCK navigation ... this series has it. The reaction speed of the unit is really impressive.

I agree with the previous reviewer: it is way cheap that Garmin doesn't include a USB cable with the unit. However, mine came with instructions (and was very easy to set up, much easier than my previous Garmin, a nuvi 360) and found my current location quickly and accurately.

There are a few notable improvements I've found so far as compared to the Garmin 360--(1) the touch screen is much more responsive and accurate (2) there seem to be more POI (though, of course, there are still locations that are not listed) (3) there are lots of extra features like the ecoroute thing, which allows you to track your gas mileage and the cost of driving from 1 location to another.

As far as the negatives, the lack of accessories is the biggest problem. Ironically, if you want to register your product to get a 10% discount on accessories, you have to have the USB cord accessory so that their website can recognize your nuvi. This is not going to bode well for the number of people who will register their Nuvi 1300s, and I assume Garmin will come up with some solution to this in the future (i.e.--a way to register without connecting the nuvi to your computer). When I called Garmin, they promised to send me a USB cord for free, so that might be something to try.
Overall, great GPS with a few small problems.

     We have been a Garmin user for over 5 years and within these 5 years we have gotten different model and loved it. Unfortunately this particular model that we bought gave us nothing but trouble. We were very excited about the new features it provides. After using it for about 3 weeks this model all of sudden froze and will not load the map. We end up returning this model and exchange for the same thing and again after 3 days this particular model will not load the map and in fact kept rebooting itself. Again we thought this perhaps is a fluke, went back and exchange for another same model. Sadly, this one yet died again and the map will not load. The merchant we purchase the item from suggest us to call Garmin and to my disappointment after sitting for half hour wait their customer service was beyond horrible, not professional and rude. Because of this experience we will not be purchasing another Garmin.

Let me be perfectly clear...I really like my new Garmin 1350T GPS.
The only difficulty I had after taking it out of the box and charging it for the first time was a problem in having the GPS "easily "recognize" exactly what available screen (option/letter/number, etc.) that I was "pointing" to on the touchscreen. I thought I had a defective unit so I contacted Garmin's free Tech Support. The technician took me through an easy, yet undocumented (to me at least) calibration procedure that only took a minute or so. Since then the unit has performed as advertised.
Also...You NEED to have a cable with a standard USB connection on one end & a Mini-USB connection on the other end. Garmin DOES NOT automatically include this cable in the box along with the 1350T. Without this cable, you can't connect this GPS to your computer in order to register it online or receive your free updated (if available) mapping or operational software.
Be advised also that not ALL USB/Mini-USB cables are alike. These cables may all LOOK the same but there really are TWO different types. One will only let electric current through in order to charge your internal GPS battery, while the other will not only charge the battery, BUT WILL ALSO carry data back and forth between your computer and the 1350T. Be sure to obtain the kind of cable that can perform BOTH functions.

      I'm having the same problem with the unit forgetting all settings every time I plug it into my computer.
      Don't hold your breath for a software update from Garmin to fix this--I just got off the phone with their tech support, and the rep told me this is NOT a known issue with the unit, and that apparently I was the only one who has ever reported it, therefore they will not be coming out with a software fix for it...ever. He recommended I return the unit to Amazon for a replacement.
      Maybe you can help out by calling their Support line and reporting your issue also. If they get a few more calls maybe they'll do something about it.

I got this unit for Christmas, 2008. though this is often the primary GPS that I've owned, i have been passenger on several journeys with a lover who has Nuvi 350 therefore i used to be already conversant in Garmin. The unit I bought had the 2009 maps, and therefore the firmware was fairly recent. Firmware, etc has since been updated to most up-to-date version(s).
My selection dropped to the nuvi 265WT, 765T or 760. The 760 may be a premium unit for a discount price due it's being last years model, whereas the 765T had the options I wished however continues to be expensive since it is a new model. within the finish I opted for 265WT since it had the updated/new options that the 760 did not have and was at the worth that i used to be willing to pay. I didn't very contemplate alternative brands, though my impression is that alternative brands supply additional "bells and whistles" however suffer within the areas of simple use and reliability. The unit has worked fine, no issues to talk of, though my actual time pay driving with it's been restricted up to now (spent several time simply "playing" with it, though). Just bought this GPS from Amazon and i am having no issues with it in any respect. No certain why others have a tangle with the speaker however it sounds fine to me. I bought this to exchange my Nuvi 350 and it is a major upgrade. The menus are a lot of nicer and that i just like the Speed Limit show. I did have to a small degree hassle with the bluetooth. once pairing my iPhone the "Phone" icon disappeared from my GPS. It did not appear to acknowledge my iPhone anymore. I visited the Garmin web site, downloaded the two.70 upgraded software for this unit (which has fixes for the speaker and bluetooth), did the pairing once more, and currently it works fine. i might undoubtedly suggest this unit.
