Connected with ease and I am able to see the phonebook and call history in the GPS. Tested a few calls. Clear on both sides of the call. I am impressed by the speed it calculate routes. I am getting satellite reception even indoors. I will try to update the review after a few trips.

     The GPS is showing some ambiguities while connecting to the iphone 3G. The phone gets paired instantly but the phonebook sync doesn't work most of the time. The GPS is restarting out of no reason while navigating. I have to check with Garmin and see what is the problem.

     I stow the unit in my center console when not in use and put the bean bag under the seat. This unit starts up in about 30 seconds and I have not opened the user manual once. It is so easy to use right out of the box. If you are looking for an easy, accurate GPS this is a very good pick.

I was absolutely amazed. Very up to date. It never steered me wrong. 3) it's simple to figure out all features without the manual. 4) You can easily set a current location as "home," such as a hotel or even a parking spot, and then go off and explore in the car or on foot, and use the navigation to steer you back. 5) a fun thing is how it tracks statistics, such as your average speed, top speed, total stopped time, etc. I enjoyed playing with this when taking it for a hike or when we hit a traffic jam. 6) it is easy to put in a pocket or hide in glove compartment if you want to take it with you or keep it out of sight. 7) the spoken turn-by-turn directions work great, and you can choose the Australian accent for fun. You should hear the female voice try to pronounce "Ojo Caliente" phonetically in Australian.

You will not be disappointed with it. It's one of those technology products that makes your life better, and you just fall in love with it, to your own embarrassment. We've named it Shiela. I haven't had any problems with it at all ,and we've used it heavily for over a month.

I'm pleased to say that this worked on this trip -- I had plenty of battery life left after 4 days of modest use (one or two 20 minute drives per day). Of course, I didn't have traffic information this way -- but I also have learned a lot about the benefits and limitations of traffic data from our 770 -- I plan to only use this feature very selectively, which also means I won't be bothered by the ads.

     The hotfix capability is great -- very fast satellite fixes when it already knows where you are. Routing, re-routing speed, lane information, and some flexibility on the display are all improvements over my older units that show that Garmin is continuing to make solid improvements in the technology and design. The one personal preference I didn't get with this model is the ability to use the Australian accented voice, which I just find more soothing than the American.... but I think I'll get over this... bottom line, I'm an experienced GPS user and I'm very happy with this purchase.

     Despite this unit being solid I did send it back and order the exact same one only with lifetime map updates for $25.66 more. The way I see it there is no point in having a gps if you don't keep up to date maps and buying map updates not bundled with the units themselves is ridiculously expensive.

     I would say lifetime map updates is a must for any gps and you should shop for one with this.

     Also I would stick with the Garmins. Ihe mid range tomtoms barely have enough space to fit there current maps and when there maps grow beyond the point where they can fit there is no way to expand there memory making map updates impossible. The lower range tomtom's in the same range as this garmin cannot even fit there own current map update so you have no choice but to use whatever out of date map come preloaded. Also they have a 
tendency to break when you try to update them or just stop working for no reason at all.

I agree with the previous reviewer: it is way cheap that Garmin doesn't include a USB cable with the unit. However, mine came with instructions (and was very easy to set up, much easier than my previous Garmin, a nuvi 360) and found my current location quickly and accurately.

There are a few notable improvements I've found so far as compared to the Garmin 360--(1) the touch screen is much more responsive and accurate (2) there seem to be more POI (though, of course, there are still locations that are not listed) (3) there are lots of extra features like the ecoroute thing, which allows you to track your gas mileage and the cost of driving from 1 location to another.

As far as the negatives, the lack of accessories is the biggest problem. Ironically, if you want to register your product to get a 10% discount on accessories, you have to have the USB cord accessory so that their website can recognize your nuvi. This is not going to bode well for the number of people who will register their Nuvi 1300s, and I assume Garmin will come up with some solution to this in the future (i.e.--a way to register without connecting the nuvi to your computer). When I called Garmin, they promised to send me a USB cord for free, so that might be something to try.
Overall, great GPS with a few small problems.

The technician took me through an easy, yet undocumented (to me at least) calibration procedure that only took a minute or so. Since then the unit has performed as advertised.
Also...You NEED to have a cable with a standard USB connection on one end & a Mini-USB connection on the other end. Garmin DOES NOT automatically include this cable in the box along with the 1350T. Without this cable, you can't connect this GPS to your computer in order to register it online or receive your free updated (if available) mapping or operational software.
Be advised also that not ALL USB/Mini-USB cables are alike. These cables may all LOOK the same but there really are TWO different types. One will only let electric current through in order to charge your internal GPS battery, while the other will not only charge the battery, BUT WILL ALSO carry data back and forth between your computer and the 1350T. Be sure to obtain the kind of cable that can perform BOTH functions.

Garmin nüvi 1390/1390T 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic 

Just bought this GPS from Amazon and i am having no issues with it in any respect. No certain why others have a tangle with the speaker however it sounds fine to me. I bought this to exchange my Nuvi 350 and it is a major upgrade. The menus are a lot of nicer and that i just like the Speed Limit show. I did have to a small degree hassle with the bluetooth. once pairing my iPhone the "Phone" icon disappeared from my GPS. It did not appear to acknowledge my iPhone anymore. I visited the Garmin web site, downloaded the two.70 upgraded software for this unit (which has fixes for the speaker and bluetooth), did the pairing once more, and currently it works fine. i might undoubtedly suggest this unit.
